WARNING
FAILURE TO READ AND FOLLOW THE INSTALLATION AND SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS STATED HERE AND ON THE INSTRUCTION SHEET MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY, DEATH OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.
SAFETY IS IMPORTANT
Garren Fitness takes safety seriously and we make strong efforts to provide installation and usage instructions and safety warnings to all customers. It is the full responsibility of each customer to ensure that those instructions and warnings are followed correctly.
The Maximiza Pull Up Bar (like every other brand of doorway pull up bar) is NOT permanently fixed to the doorframe and, as a result, can fall if incorrectly installed or if safe usage instructions are not followed EVERY time it is used.
When using a pull up bar, your full bodyweight is being held many feet above the floor, and any falls can cause serious or fatal injury. Your risk of injury is greatly reduced when you practice safe techniques and common sense.
The safety of this bar depends on how you mount it to the doorframe and how you use it.
INTENDED USES
The Maximiza pull up bars are designed to be used primarily for:
- Pull ups and chin ups
- Hanging leg raises and hanging knee raises
- Assisted pull-ups (with resistance bands)
- Low-weight exercises at waist height, e.g. inverted rows
- Push-ups (using bar as elevated surface) at low height
- Sit-ups (using bar as a foot brace) at low height
NOT INTENDED FOR THESE USES
Do not use the bar for any of the following:
- Gymnastics training – Product not designed for gymnastics-type movements
- Kipping – Explosive swinging movements used in CrossFit; extremely stressful on bar and mounts
- Muscle-ups – Explosive transition from pull-up to dip; exceeds designed stress parameters
- Pendulum swinging – Swinging side-to-side; creates lateral stress bars not designed to withstand
- Dynamic swinging – Aggressive swinging movements or bouncing movements
- Hanging upside down – Not designed for hanging upside down or hanging by feet
- Acrobatic movements – Any movements outside basic pull-up/chin-up exercises
- Competitive use – Not designed for heavy-duty gym or competitive training environments
- Commercial use – Not designed for fitness studios, gyms, or commercial facilities
- Children’s toy – Absolutely NOT a toy; dangerous for children
INSTALLATION AND INSPECTION CHECKLIST
BEFORE INITIAL INSTALLATION
Before you screw the mounts into your doorframe, make sure:
- Your doorframe is sturdy, solid wood, and structurally sound. It should be free from cracks, damage, water damage, rot or weak spots.
- The doorframe width is between 28 and 39 inches (71 to 99 cm). Measure at the height where you plan to install the mounts.
- There is enough clearance above and around the doorway for your pull-up exercises and your body movement. You need clear space overhead.
- The door itself opens and closes freely and is not warped or damaged. (Tip: Install the mounts with the door closed so the bar does not get in the way when you open and close the door.)
- You have a Phillips head screwdriver or electric screwdriver and the correct screw-in heavy-duty door mounts (not plastic plugs alone).
- You are using the correct mounting height. Remember the weight and height limits for each mount type:
-
- Heavy-duty mounts: up to 300 lb / 136 kg (Maximiza) or up to 330 lb / 150 kg (Maximiza Plus)
- Medium-duty mounts: up to 100 lb / 45 kg (waist height or below only)
- No mounts/friction: very low heights only, for light exercises like sit-up foot support
HOW TO INSTALL THE BAR CORRECTLY (SUMMARY)
- Use the screw‑in heavy‑duty door‑mounts and fix them firmly to a sturdy wooden doorframe using the supplied screws (yes, they are required!).
- Place the silicone end‑pieces in each end of the bar.
- Rotate the bar until it is seated fully and firmly in the heavy‑duty mounts.
- Tighten the securing clamps at each end with the Allen wrench to reduce any tendency for rotation.
For detailed step‑by‑step installation instructions with pictures, see the Instruction Sheet supplied with your product.
BEFORE EVERY USE
Every time before you use the bar, you must check that it is installed correctly and secure.
- Visual parts inspection: Look at all mounts, screws, the bar, end caps, clamps and the doorframe. Make sure nothing is loose, bent, cracked, worn or missing.
- Doorframe damage: Check the doorframe around and above the mounts for new cracks, splits, or signs that the frame is being pulled apart or weakening.
- Bar seated in mounts: Visually check that the pull up bar is seated fully and firmly in the heavy-duty doormounts
- Rotation check: Gently try to rotate or twist the bar by hand. It should not spin or move. If it does:
-
- Loosen the securing clamps with the Allen hex wrench
- Rotate the bar to tighten it in the doormounts until it no longer moves
- Retighten the securing clamps with the Allen hex wrench until the bar is completely firm.
- Pre-load test: Stand in front of the bar and gently pull down on it with moderate weight, as if starting an exercise. It should feel solid and secure. Do not do any full pull-ups or vigorous movements until you are confident the bar is stable.
- Stop-use rule: If you notice any of the following, do not use the bar until it is fixed:
-
- Loose or missing screws, mounts or end caps
- Bent, cracked or damaged bar or mounts
- Cracks or damage in the doorframe
- The bar is not fully and firmly seated in the doormounts
- The bar rotating, spinning or moving when you apply weight
- Any other sign that the bar or doorframe is weakening

SAFE USAGE WARNINGS:
- Use for intended purposes only. See “Intended Uses” and “Not Intended for These Uses” above.
- One person at a time. Should be used by only one person at a time
- Adults only. Recommended for adult usage. Not recommended for unsupervised use by children.
- Do not attach other equipment (such as swings, sandbags, punching bags, resistance straps or other accessories) to the bar or mounts unless they are specifically designed and rated for use with this product.
- Do not use if damaged. For what to look for, see the “Before Every Use” checklist above.
- Consult your physician before beginning any new exercise program or using this product, particularly if you have any pre‑existing medical conditions or concerns.
RISK AWARENESS – IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Using any pull up bar involves real risk. If the bar is not installed correctly, if the doorway is not strong enough, or if you use the bar in unsafe ways, you can be seriously injured or even killed, and your property can be damaged. By choosing to install and use this product, you:
- accept that there are inherent risks in the proper use of correctly functioning exercise equipment of this type; and
- agree to take responsibility for installing and using the bar safely, and for anyone else you allow to use it, including by following all installation instructions, weight limits, safety checks on this page, in the instruction sheet, and on our website.
Garren Fitness stands behind the quality of its products, but we cannot control how every doorway is built or how every customer uses the bar. In general, injuries or damage that result solely from incorrect installation, use on an unsuitable or damaged doorway, not following the instructions and safety checks, or using the bar for activities it is not designed for are outside what we can reasonably prevent as a manufacturer.
